Description
We offer single “Herkimer Diamonds” in all kinds of shapes and sizes. Grading will depend on the size, clarity, and imperfections of the crystal. As the crystal gets larger, there tend to be more imperfections. These crystals will be 1/2 in or smaller and will follow the grading scale listed below.
Grading:
We here at South Jersey Mining Company want you to have a great experience with us. Therefore we want to be as transparent as possible on how we grade our “Herkimer Diamond” Quartz crystals. Now we are not Gemologists, but we also want you to get what you are expect.
Here is an explanation of how we grade our crystals and what you should expect when making a purchase from us. We will group them into 5 categories, now this grading scale will be for single and smaller crystals only. Categories: Flawless, Grade AA, Grade A, Grade B, and Grade C.
Flawless – Will be the rarest of crystals with no visible imperfections to the naked eye. This means that there are no contact points, no keys, no fractures, etc. This will be your best jewelry grade crystal.
Grade AA- this is going to be mostly flawless with one imperfection. The imperfection could be an inclusion, or a small contact point on a crystal face. This will not include any fractures or damage to the points or tips.
Grade A-will be crystals that have one or two minor imperfections such as an inclusion or contact point. This might include a minor fracture.
Grade B- will include crystals with the potential of multiple imperfections. The imperfections will include fractures, inclusions, contact points, and damage to a single point. The B Grade will still have one tip or point that is fully intact in good condition.
Grade C- will be crystals that are damaged and have multiple imperfections. This includes damage to the points, broken pieces, and shards of crystals.
